DC Lighting Services Ltd has completed the new lighting installation at the brand new Prestwick Ambassador Indoor Bowling Club. The owners of the new arena, Jim and Sheena Clarke, have provided the members with one of the most fantastic indoor bowling arena’s in the country. Jim, who project managed the building works at the arena, had previously looked at some of the indoor bowling clubs existing lighting systems in Scotland and the system that caught his eye was the East Fife IBC in Methil which DC Lighting Services Ltd installed in 2002, the system at Methill still looks fantastic 11 years later. Jim made enquiries at the club who put them in contact with Doug at DCLS who was instrumental in the unique design required for Methil Club. Technology has moved on now with LED lighting providing low cost high quality solutions. The LED panels used at Prestwick have provided the perfect solution with the “Cree” LED illumination providing a Day light colour to enhance the bowling carpet. The suspended ceiling installed by DC Lighting was required to meet unique positioning of the LED panels in the alignment to the 8 rinks at the Prestwick Ambassador Arena. The design allows for the play to be unidirectional as Jim may change the line of play in the future. The Arena was enhanced with new electrical wiring throughout, and a DMX controlled lighting system which allows the stadium to benefit from reduced lighting when required. Jim Clarke said ‘DC Lighting have produced a fantastic lighting system that will last for years, the Arena looks absolutely fantastic and we have had very positive feedback from the members who use the club’. I know that the electrical costs have significantly reduced and we have a lighting system that is 5 times better than before, so it’s all good!
